Any one starting out with art or wanting to create something visual have probably found themselves in the same spot as myself. There are so many products out there that have the same function, but how do you know you´re going to get something you’re happy with if you don’t test them out?
One way of making a choice is to look at what other use to create their art. This is how I ended up trying out Sakura pigma micron pens for the first time. I saw so many artists using them on Instagram and I figured they had to be good pens if they happened to be the preferred choice for a lot of artists.
Before the days of Instagram I just got what was available at the stores I frequented when looking for art supplies. I have ended up getting a lot of different brands over the years. Ive become somewhat of a pen hoarder. If I see a brand im not familiar with I have a compulsion to buy it and test out.
Now that there are a lot of brands readily available on the market in many different colors, I also like testing out the different colors and comparing the shades.
Some of the supplies ive gotten, ive been very satisfied with. Some I have not been happy with for whatever reason.
Since art supplies are costly. I thought it might be useful to share my experiences with different brands. I honestly, wish I’d had more guides along the way.
