Geekytown started with a simple question: How can I communicate and tell stories in a way that I feel is satisfying?
On a rainy afternoon in February 2020 I was waiting for the metro in some really chilly rain. Suddenly it came to me. What if I draw myself from behind and just place that character in different situations? Sounds doable.
As we now know 2020 was on the cusp of becoming really interesting, nerve wrecking and take us all on quite the journey. By the time mid-march rolled around I was staying with my parents with all the time in the world to further develop this idea.
Since then an array of characters have developed, but don’t be fooled. Every single character is just another side of me. Whether we are looking at a shadow person, the whispering eye or the anxiety creator. They are all some side of me. This way I also don’t have to worry about people secretly thinking that I’m portraying them. Let’s face it, some of these characters are less flattering than others.
The name itself was originally used as a hashtag to warn people that my stories on snapchat was going to be on something I was hung up on. It seems fitting. Most of all I like the sound of it and how the word looks on paper.
Geekytown
The place it self is not so much of a place as a journey or an idea. I want to tell stories that engage me on some level and then i hope it will be engaging to you as well. Poxy has a magic balloon and on it she goes on adventures in far of lands. Most of the landscapes are barren, simply because i enjoy drawing trees with no leafs. I like their look. Living in Norway, its also natural to add mountains.
The more boring parts:
I work full time as a teacher and work part time with the idea that is Geekytown. I have far more ideas for the universe than time to work on it, but at least I won’t run dry for elements to add to this any time soon.
I’m a self-thought artist that have been blessed with the gift that is the internet and tutorials by people who know what they’re doing. When I’m not at work (you know the people who pay my salary) and not drawing, I enjoy hanging out with my SO, watch TV/movies and read books.
I live in Oslo, Norway.
Geekytown cast:
The main characters name is Poxy. There are quite a lot of characters that will be introduced. I´ll keep them a surprise for now and opt for adding to this later.
